Mr Peter Hilditch

International Instructor,
TTA Schools Instructor

“I started training in Taekwon-Do locally in 1995 as an alternative to going to the gym and also to support/train with my son who had already started at the age of 6.

We went up through the colour belt grades together, with my son grading to 1st Degree in October 1999 and myself reaching 1st Degree in April 2000.

We started Teignbridge Taekwon-Do (Dawlish Taekwon-Do) in September 2003, both being 2nd Degrees at that time.

Our association is the UK ITF and I now train directly under the President, Grand Master Trevor Nicholls 9th Degree. GM Nicholls is President of the UK ITF and Vice President of the ITF.”

“I started Taekwon-Do when I went to Brighton University to study physiotherapy in 2000. I started my training with the UKTA and graded up to 3rd Kup (Blue belt red tag) with them. I joined Teignbridge Taekwon-Do a year after I graduated and have been training with the club since.

I gained my 1st Black belt in 2008 and my 5th degree in April 2022.

Outside of Taekwon-Do I’m a Mum of 2 and an advanced MSK Physiotherapist.”

“I was encouraged to start Taekwon-do to regain my fitness after an accident and support my energetic son, so aged 41 I did, because of recovering injuries, I didn't think I would go far, but loved the fact that I regained my fitness.

I started Teaching as an assistant instructor at Red belt and made it a goal to help as many students as I could, from starting to Black Belt and beyond.

I gained my 1st Degree aged 45, my 2nd Degree aged 47, my 3rd Degree was my 50th birthday present to myself. I achieved my 4th degree aged 54.

I have entered many competitions; a UK championship, local, national, an international competition via Zoom and in 2022, the World championship in Holland.

I really enjoy passing on knowledge taught to myself to benefit other students, young and older.

Taekwon-do is definitely a whole life experience, and I am very proud to be part of the Teignbridge Taekwon-do Academy as an instructor and a student.”
